You've got some really great chops for one so young. However, you might want to back off on the cymbals a bit. Use the cymbals as tonal accents. They ARE musical instruments you know. Experiment with different sticks and striking with different parts of the stick in various parts of the cymbal. You'll be amazed at the range of sound you get.
You had a five piece kit up there. Use EVERY drum as a separate, tuned instrument. Imagine yourself playing on a keyboard instrument with only four white keys and four black keys. Cymbals are the black, drums are the white. Let's not discuss the bass drum...you had no problems there that I could hear. Use the white keys for MELODY, and the black keys for ACCENTS. Try that for a bit and then branch out and get creative. And don't think you have to play so loud all the time. Use dynamics(louds and softs and in-betweens). Do you know the difference between pianissisimo(ppp) and fortississimo(fff)? One is so soft that it is almost inaudible and the other is SO LOUD IT WILL MAKE YOUR EARS BLEED!!!!! Learn to play at a medium level so you have someplace to go up or down in volume. I teach Drum Corps and Marching Band drumlines with up to thirty two or more players and I always tell them that very same thing. Try it for a while and get back to me.
BTW:you did NOT lose. You just didn't win. You had the guts to get up there and hang it all out for the world to see and hear. Not many people can say that. I'm impressed. Keep up the good work.
    Remember...it's all about the music.
