I loooove OCDP. They have some of the coolest custom drums on the planet. Drum Off 2003 Champ, Eric Moore II, was in talks with them about an endorsement deal before he finally decided to go with DW. Adrian Young (No Doubt & OCDP owner) is a big fan of Eric and actually gave him a one-off prototype snare drum, which you can check out on Eric's myspace page by clicking the link below. OCDP is definitely a sick drum company and more importantly run by a bunch of reaally good guys.

What about Truth? Seriously expensive, but the sound is proof of God! They have pretty cool designs, too. But again, way too much money for my taste.

It seems that the people at Shine are one of the easier companies to get endorsed by. I talked to them at one point but the discount wasn't as great as I had hoped. A guy I know is in the band Brazil and he was endorsed by C&C and those were the best sounding custom drums I've ever heard for sure. I saw him play several times and every time they sounded awesome. I've seen and played OCDP, Pork Pie, and Shine but they just didn't have the wow factor at all.

you guiz are such n00bz
all custom drums are the same
with the exception of dw
they all use the exact same keller shells
the all use the same hardware
when you buy a custom kit, your buying a name, nothing more.

If you haven't heard of this one check them out. Maryland Drum Company. They make some good sounding drums. I wish I could get a drumset from them.

I'll say this there are many similarities in the custom drum market but many in the major manufacturers as well....
I mean compare the sound of a Pearl, Ludwig, Gretsch and Tama (assuming all maple) and they're all close. Esp. the mid to lower priced models....
Many custom companies offer the same basic configuration. 6-ply maple toms, 8ply bass, the difference ends up being in the looks, and the details... but that translates to sound. Plus I find much better hardware on most customs. The key difference is where you take the custom drum... The good manufacturers will do almost anything. Tell me there's no difference between a custom block snare drum, or a half brass/hald maple.... and the pearl that came with you set and you're telling me your can't hear properly....
For decent prices in the custom market, look into Darkhorse Percussion.
